I’m a woman who loves beer; and not just any old kind of beer. I love craft beer, and I have a special place in my heart for ones brewed locally. I analyze the hops, the color, the aromas and any specialty ingredients that induce a party on my palate from a simple sip. This is the essence of craft beer and it’s an exciting time to be in the craft beer industry in Georgia. With close to 40 breweries and brew pubs across the state, and many being planned everyday, beer lovers have entered into a new love affair with the third most popular beverage in the world. This increased popularity is directly reflected in some pretty recent regulatory upgrades. In 2004, the state raised the alcohol-by-volume limit of beer sold in Georgia from 6 percent to 14 percent and Sunday alcohol sales took effect in 2011. Attitudes and practices are certainly advancing in the Peach State, however, there is still a ways to go. [Read More]
