Day 30 (#30Beers30Days)

Perfect finale

It’s pretty lame to say this, but it’s true: time flies when you’re having fun! The past 30 days have been SO much fun. I’ve learned so much about beer and about my personal tastes.  Beer is a humble drink, but it’s not simple. The last 30 days have shown me the complexities of beer.  I have an even greater appreciation.

To end this #30Beers30Days challenge, I’m having an Arrogant Bastard Ale (7.2%, Cali) at – you guessed it – the Midway Pub.  Arrogant Bastard is an American Strong Ale.  It’s a pretty, reddish/amber hue when poured with a good, ‘keeping’ head…doesn’t dissipate to quickly but doesn’t really linger either.  The aroma is very piney and citrusy with a teeny twinge of floral, and that’s because it’s an obviously hoppy beer.  Its light t0 medium body carries a candied grapefruit flavor.

If you hate hops, you would loathe this beer. In fact, this beer will make you really rethink whether or not you like hoppy beers. Arrogant Bastard Ale un-apologetically punches you in the back of the throat with hops.  I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, except those who want a challenge.  And if you make it past the initial shock, you may be able to discover that it actually is a nice tasting beer.  I think I’d give it a B…it could grow on me, eventually.
