17 Apr Day 9 (#30Beers30Days)
It’s day 9 of the #30Beers30Days challenge and so far the “challenge” has been compiling the tweets into a blog post! Drinking’s pretty easy, and what’s better than tossing back a cold one right after work? Today, we’re sipping from the sofa, folks! I have friends in high places, and as such, I have a special copy of Big Eddy’s Imperial IPA (9.0% ABV, Wisconsin)! Let’s dive right in.
Big Eddy is from the Leinenkugel Brewery. They make a nice selection of year-
round, seasonal and Big Eddy brews. Tonight’s guest is an Imperial IPA (Indian Pale Ale); some people refer to is as a Double IPA: strong in alcohol and hops presence. This one in particular uses 5 varieties of hops that are added throughout the brewing process.
Big Eddy isn’t the best smelling IPA: while in the bottle, I thought I got a toasty, malty, sweet smell. Then I poured it and immediately got hints of resin and dampness, followed by a toasty slightly sweet aroma. But that’s no matter. It’s a damn good beer! And it can do tricks, check out our photo: a perfect “head” stand, lol!
I could go on and on and on about Big Eddy and this Imperial IPA. Damn shame it’s no longer on the market, because I think it’s perfect. So, on Day #9 of the #30Beers30Days challenge, I’m giving the since retired Big Eddy’s Imperial IPA an A.
Farewell, kind sir!
