Ask any homebrewer: there is an ideal time to brew and enjoy every kind of beer know to man (and woman). And brewing with ingredients at the peak of their season ensures a homebrew that’s not only good but appropriate – homebrewing purists are serious about that! As a resource, we found this handy homebrew calendar courtesy of our friends at Homebrewing.com. It’s pretty cool!
What to brew now
Now’s the perfect time to homebrew Bocks, Imperial Stouts, Helles, and Dry Stouts. We’ve scoured the web for a few homebrew recipes for each:
- Want to clone a Guinness Stout? Then Dry Stouts are for you! Hopville offers many recipe options.
- Bocks are among my favorite. Brew a batch now and it’ll be ready by mid April! Click here for tons of great bock recipes.
- If lighter lagers are your speed, try homebrewing a Helles style beer. Fellow homebrewers have shared their recipes on this community site.
- Last up: Imperial Stouts. Similar to Dry Stouts, but with more hops, these take a full year from brewing to drinking. Get started now with this tried and tested recipe.
